"You okay?"
The first time it shoots out of his mouth it earns him a lot of nothing, outside of folded arms and a mildly derisive noise and a weird look on Crawford's face. He's not like those sorry bastards back in the bunker, he's not like Lysandre or Kirei where Schuldig has to wonder if anyone's ever bothered to ask how they are straight-out even once in their miserable lives; he knows damn well Crawford's heard it, even if it's almost always a formality. What's new is the implication, because "are you okay" brings with it the notion that Schuldig thinks that he's not, and even if Crawford is generally always not okay (because no one in Schwarz is ever really okay) that's just not how they handle things and it's almost always the fun sort of not-okay, anyway.
So it'd gotten him a look and thankfully his delivery had been just flippant enough for him to brush it off with something that he tries to forget almost as soon as he's gone on his way; he knows Crawford won't be forgetting it, because remembering things that seem off is just what he does (and he's damn good at what he does), but he also knows it'd been inane enough to be let go.
He doesn't miss not having to ask that every five minutes; it's kind of weird to think that he doesn't have to anymore. It'd also been weird leaving a leader who hated the whole damn world and returning to Crawford, who hated the whole damn world just as much; the weirdness there, though, wasn't an uncomfortable one – after all, if their plans are the equivalent of their crystal weapon, Crawford never plays coy with the key.
Even so, the second time he slips and asks it earns him the look and the sigh and verbal confirmation of Crawford's opinion that Schuldig needs an intervention; it's practically an invitation to be an asshole about it, and while it's not the sort that would have passed for "decent" back in murderschool, Schuldig's willing to shrug and grin and consider it progress.
